Communication Throughout History: The June 2006 issue of Fate magazine carried an interesting article written by astrologer, Marcia Masino, about famous figures and how spirit communication influenced their lives. When asked how he made his vast fortune, Cornelius Vanderbilt is quoted as saying, “Do as I do, consult the spirits.” The information given to President Lincoln by the trance medium, Nettie Coburn Maynard, is detailed along with its significance in convincing him to proclaim freedom with the Emancipation Proclamation. Suffrage leader, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, is said to have written, The Declaration of Right and Sentiments, upon her three-legged spirit table used for séances. The author writes about the experiences of others such as Arthur Conan Doyle and why he became convinced of survival.

The relatively current experiences of singer, K.D. Lang, who received signs from deceased singer, Patsy Cline, are mentioned along with the authors own experience. Masion had wanted to include something about Carl Gustav Jung but decided against it when she could not find anything appropriate for her story. Just a few days later she had a dream in which a man was holding an open book and mouthing the word, “The tower.” The next day, Masino opened one of Jung’s books at random and found a chapter titled, “The Tower,” and in it she found just what she had been looking for; a personal experience that Jung had with spirits.

Need for Serious Study: In, “Are Scientists Afraid of Ghosts?,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning science writer, Debroah Blum, for the Los Angeles Times, Blum wrote about the cross correspondence experiments of famed American psychologist, William James, and the British physicist, Oliver Lodge, noting that the work was described at the time by newspapers as “remarkable experiments testing the reality of life after death.” James and Lodge also ran an international survey of reported ghost sightings, particularly those tied to the death of a relative or friend. Tens of thousands of people in multiple countries were interviewed and reports were sifted through, and those that lacked independent witnesses or documentation, were rejected. The researchers concluded that “death visitants” occurred more than four hundred times above chance.

Blum compared the research of James and Lodge to a telepathy study presented at the annual meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science in 2006, which involved sixty-three people who were asked to say in advance which of four friends or relatives were calling on the telephone. The answers were forty-five percent correct, which is above the twenty-four percent expected by chance.

Blum felt the experiment to be small and too poorly controlled for it to be convincing. She wrote, “…it doesn’t convince me as it did a host of angry British scientists, that telepathy is merely ‘a charlatan’s fancy.’ It convinces me that we need smarter science on all levels.” She continues that James, “Worried about a time when people would become ‘indifferent to science because science is so callously indifferent to their experiences.’ He worried that a closed-minded community of science could become a kind of cult itself, devoted to its own beliefs and no more.”

Policeman Hears EVP: An Edmond, Alberta Canada veteran cop is convinced that the voice of murder victim, Rachel Quinney, was picked up in an audio recording as she spoke from beyond the grave. “I saw it. I heard it. I believe,” said Constable Wayne Fermaniuk, who accompanied psychic and spiritual medium Alan Hatfield, from Pictou Landing First Nation in Nova Scotia to the spot where Quinney’s body was discovered. Along with the voices of Fermaniuk and Quinney’s mother and sister, who were all present, Rachel’s voice could be heard on the tape’s playback,” said Hatfield. “It was clear and came in between other dialogue,” he said. “Rachel came on, and her grandmom and granddad, who are Delia”s mom and dad, they came on, too. I heard the clips that the mother (Delia) said were her daughter talking. It kind of sounds like it’s in the background, and you have to turn it up a bit, but it’s there.”

Neither Hatfield nor Fermaniuk would reveal what they heard Rachel say on the recorded audio of the approximately hour-long session, saying it could jeopardize the police investigation into her unsolved death.

Paranormal Drama for CBS? Looking to follow up on his hit NBC series, “Medium,” producer, Glenn Gordon Caron, is looking at another paranormal drama. CBS has given an order for the pilot, “The Meant to Be’s.” It is a romantic drama about a young dead woman who must return to Earth and help people before she can cross over.

Did Seth 3 Appear in the Scole Medium’s Crystal Experiments?

The two different photographs at the left and right of center were taken of quartz crystals illuminated with a strong light. The crystals and light are used as a way to modify light, making it sufficiently chaotic for feature formation. This is similar to using noise for voice formation in EVP. The photograph in the center is of Seth 3 and was “sent” to Homes via a television set. It is common for the lower portion of these phenomenal faces to be obscured, as if it is the eyes that matter.

An interesting recent event in Diana and Alan Bennetts’ experiments is the discovery of a picture that looks like Seth 3. Lisa Butler was working on a project and looking for pictures on the World ITC website (www.worlditc.org) of some of the (Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC) pioneers when she discovered a picture of Seth 3 that was sent to researcher, Adolf Homes. “I immediately recognized that the face was one that I had seen in some of the examples from the Bennitts’ experiments.” Lisa said. “I found the picture that I had in mind and was amazed by the striking likeness between two of their ITC photos and the photo sent to Adolf over ten years ago.”

Adolf Homes is no longer on the physical plane and there is little information on the web about Seth 3. Dr. Ernst Senkowski documented much of the research done by Homes and the Bennetts were going to write him to get more information about Seth 3.

By looking at previous ITC journals published by Mark Macy, Lisa ran across a couple of references to Seth 3. One of them from the article, “More about the ‘Rainbow People,’” in Contact Issue #96/03 says, “Seth 3, Ishkumar and others are also ‘technicians’ just like the one you are familiar with. Some of us call them great souls or creators. They live on our plane and yet are really not among us. They can ascend to higher planes and again ‘bend down’ to our level. Their power is almost unlimited and so is their wisdom and goodness. Their entire being is illuminated by understanding and forgiveness. It is impossible to describe the good feeling that overcomes the person who faces them and can speak to them. We seek council with these higher beings to determine the information to send to Earth.”

If you have other information on Seth 3 we would love to hear about it.
