Media Watch for June 2002

(Issue 7)

Face on the wall (top) has been slightly enhanced to make feature more visible. A second enhancement is at left, and also show the woman's lapel. There are other faces formed in the optical noise, but the one just above the woman's hair is pretty evident.

This image was captured by Tom and Lisa Butler using the video loop method to produce optical noise for feature formation. What you see is the face of a woman where there should be only noise. Note how she has a similarly shaped head.

Faces on the Wall: The Reverend Catherine Stewart of the Spiritualist Desert Church in Las Vegas, NV has brought an interesting and phenomenal image to our attention.  If you look closely at the wall just behind the organ in the church, you can see the outline of a face in the variations of the paint.  It is a blue wall and the image is also blue, so we have enhanced a photograph of the face and provided it here for clarity.

While working with the photo we noticed that there was a second face just above the first.  The side-by-side images show this second enhancement and the smaller face.  We understand that these do not print well in black and white, but if you look closely at the woman, you can see evidence of a lapel and a slender neck.

The Rev. Catherine Stewart wrote, “This is all so exciting!  Thanks so much for your help.  I can't wait to tell all the congregation of your findings. We do see other faces…  The one face is always there, but sometimes her face is full, sometimes thin, sometimes she appears to be wearing a garden hat.  One Sunday as we were singing our closing hymn several of us heard from that corner, a beautiful choir singing along with us.  Years ago I was given a message that we would have physical phenomena in the church that would draw many people to witness.  That's why I've been working with the trumpet; I thought that would be it----maybe not.  I do know that Spiritualism will reign.”

We understand that such images are believed by physical scientists to be the chance arrangement of random events, but you should know that this argument does not accept the existence of a nonphysical reality or personal survival.  If you take those two most important aspects of our reality into account, then it is more likely that communicating entities seize the opportunity offered by physical noise to impress their likeness.

Geoweather and Phenomena: We have reported on a number of occasions that atmospheric conditions may have an influence on mediumship and other forms of phenomena.  The ATransC website now sports a display that provides solar flare and geomagnetic activity.  There is also a link that provides phases of the moon.  We are encouraging members to maintain a record of solar, geomagnetic and meteorological conditions at the time of sittings or experiments to see if a definite correlation can be identified.
