When Tom and Lisa Butler assumed leadership of the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AA-EVP) (Now ATransC) in May 2000, Tom had written the Handbook of Metaphysics and several novels. Because of Tom's predisposition to discuss metaphysical concepts in great detail, the Butlers made the decision that ATransC would not become a forum for his philosophical musings. As a compromise, he has opened this website so that he can openly discuss his concepts without making them "official policy" for the Association
